261 FZCA72 TJSJ 020811 MWSSJU Marine Weather Statement National Weather Service San Juan PR 411 AM AST Tue Jul 2 2024 AMZ711-723-733-741-021400- Atlantic Waters of Puerto Rico and USVI from 10 NM to 19.5N- Anegada Passage east of Virgin Gorda and Saint Croix south to 17N- Caribbean waters of Puerto Rico from 10 NM to 17N, including the coastal waters of Saint Croix-Mona Passage Southward to 17N- 411 AM AST Tue Jul 2 2024 ...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WATERS... At 400 AM AST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located over the offshore Caribbean and Atlantic waters, and across the local passages, moving eastward about 20 knots. These thunderstorms will continue to increase through the morning hours as they are associated to the rainbands from Major Hurricane Beryl. Strong gusty winds around 40 to 45 knots or higher are possible across the Caribbean waters and the Mona Passage through this period. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 40 knots, locally higher waves, and frequent lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately. $$
