856 FXZS60 NSTU 190034 AFDPPG Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pago Pago AS 134 PM SST Thu Jul 18 2024 .Short term... TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT...High pressure to the south will continue to hold strong trades across the islands tonight. As the high pressure migrates east, winds will shift to the east and slightly diminish to breezy flow on Friday morning. However, a trough approaching from the southeast will again shift winds to the southeast in the afternoon. Stable and dry conditions will persist through Friday. The trough will pass over the islands on Saturday morning. This will increase showers to scattered in the morning and gradually decreases on Saturday night. .Long term... SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...With the aforementioned high pressure to the far southeast, showers will again slightly increase to scattered on Sunday. Also, winds will increase to strong flow through Wednesday morning. A developing trough up north will move across the islands on Wednesday night and Thursday. && .Marine... Hazardous seas will persist tonight before subsiding 6 to 8 feet on Friday morning. Trades are expected to increase on Sunday and seas will again build to hazardous conditions through midweek. && .PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
