EDWARDS...GALLATIN...WESTERN VANDERBURGH...WESTERN GIBSON...POSEY... SOUTHWESTERN HENDERSON...UNION AND NORTH CENTRAL WEBSTER COUNTIES THROUGH 600 AM CDT... At 510 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles northeast of Fairfield to near Equality. Movement was east at 35 mph. These storms will produce very heavy rainfall rates and frequent cloud to ground lightning. They may also strengthen and become capable of damaging wind gusts. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Evansville, Henderson, Mount Carmel, Mount Vernon, Carmi, Fairfield, Morganfield, Albion, Shawneetown, Breckinridge Center, Grayville, Lancaster, Owensville, Norris City, Poseyville, Uniontown, West Salem, Ridgway, New Harmony, and Crossville. This includes the following highways... Interstate 64 in Indiana between Mile Markers 1 and 20. Interstate 64 in Illinois between Mile Markers 110 and 130. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
