.SYNOPSIS...Major Hurricane Beryl is brushing along the southern
coast of Jamaica, centered near 17.5N 77.6W at 5 PM EDT, moving
west-northwest at 17 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 120 kt with
gusts to 145 kt, and the minimum central pressure is 959 mb.
Beryl is expected to maintain a W-NW motion across the Caribbean
and weaken slowly, moving inland over the Yucatan Peninsula Fri
morning and weaken to a tropical storm. Meanwhile, a strong
tropical wave is moving across the Lesser Antilles and into the
eastern Caribbean this evening, and will move across the local
area tonight through Thu night. Expect moderate to fresh winds
and seas to 8 ft across the local Atlantic waters through Thu
evening before winds veer SE and diminish slightly into the
weekend. Fresh to strong winds and seas to 9 ft will prevail
across the Caribbean waters through Thu night before subsiding
through the weekend.
