133 FNUS53 KMQT 050958 FWFMQT FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN National Weather Service Marquette MI 558 AM EDT Fri Jul 5 2024 ...Showers and Some Thunderstorms Today Into This Evening... .DISCUSSION: More showers and a couple of thunderstorms are moving into the area today as a weak low pressure moves through Wisconsin into Lower Michigan. While there is enough energy for some rumbles of thunder, I`m not expecting that much lightning from the thunderstorms today given the weak forcing from the low. No soaking rainfall is expected today through this evening, as the better rainfall amounts look to fall south of the U.P. in northern Wisconsin. Nevertheless, we could see some spots get up to half an inch of liquid before the rain showers end across the area tonight/Saturday morning. In addition to the rainfall today, expect below normal temperatures with highs in the 60s. Drier conditions and more normal temperatures return Saturday, although some diurnal showers and thunderstorms could fire up over the interior west and far east during the afternoon hours.
