ECCDA Discussions for Yreka and Modoc California Dispatch Areas
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEDFORD OR

ECC002-041500-
West Yreka-
Discussion for Western Klamath
158 PM PDT Wed Jul 3 2024

...Near critical fire weather possible daily through the weekend
for much of southern Oregon and northern California...

A strong thermal trough will remain in place through early
Thursday, bringing moderate to locally poor recoveries to ridges,
along with gusty northeast winds. Meanwhile, gusty afternoon
winds and low humidities will lead to elevated, near critical,
fire weather conditions. Strong high pressure develops for the
latter half of the week into the weekend, bringing very hot
temperatures and very low daytime humidities through at least the
weekend. While afternoon breezes will not be quite as strong as
today, the extreme heat, and long duration of the heat will allow
even typical afternoon breezes to result in dangerous conditions
favorable for the rapid spread of fire.

...Near critical fire weather possible daily through the weekend
for much of northern California...

Strong high pressure develops bringing very hot temperatures and
very low daytime humidities through at least the weekend. While
afternoon breezes are expected, they will not be very strong. That
being said, with the duration of the extreme heat and single digit
humidities with poor recoveries, even typical afternoon breezes
could result in dangerous conditions favorable for the rapid
spread of fire.
