ECC002-031545-
West Yreka-
Discussion for Western Klamath
234 PM PDT Tue Jul 2 2024

...Near critical fire weather possible today through the next week
for much of northern California...

.DISCUSSION...A strong thermal trough will remain in place through
early Thursday, bringing moderate to locally poor recoveries to
ridges along with gusty northeast winds to upper slopes and ridges
tonight and Wednesday night. Meanwhile, gusty afternoon winds and
low humidities will lead to elevated, near critical, fire weather
conditions for the valleys. Strong high pressure develops for the
latter half of the week, bringing very hot temperatures and very
low daytime humidities through at least the weekend. While
afternoon breezes will not be quite as strong as today and
Wednesday, the extreme heat, and long duration of the heat will
allow even typical afternoon breezes to result in dangerous
conditions favorable for the rapid spread of fire.

Discussion for Modoc
234 PM PDT Tue Jul 2 2024

...Near critical fire weather possible today through the next week
for much of northern California...

.DISCUSSION...An area of high pressure will bring breezy winds and
low humidities through the end of the week. Winds relax some
beginning independence day, but humidities will become dangerously
low--reaching into the single digits. Meanwhile, with how dry
daytime humidities are, recoveries will continue to worsen through
the weekend. While afternoon breezes will not be quite as strong
as today and Wednesday, the extreme heat, and long duration of the
dry humidities will allow even typical afternoon breezes to
result in dangerous conditions favorable for the rapid spread of
fire.
