Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
145 PM PDT Wed Jul 3 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO
8 AM PDT THURSDAY FOR EAST WIND WITH POOR OVERNIGHT RH RECOVERY
FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 619 AND 620...

...Near critical fire weather possible daily through the weekend
for much of southern Oregon and northern California...

.DISCUSSION...A strong thermal trough will remain in place through
early Thursday, bringing moderate to locally poor recoveries to
ridges, along with gusty northeast winds to the Coast Range.
Meanwhile, gusty afternoon winds and low humidities will lead to
elevated, near critical, fire weather conditions. Strong high
pressure develops for the latter half of the week into the weekend,
bringing very hot temperatures and very low daytime humidities through
at least the weekend. While afternoon breezes will not be quite as
strong as today, the extreme heat, and long duration of the heat will
allow even typical afternoon breezes to result in dangerous
conditions favorable for the rapid spread of fire.
