Widely scattered storms are developing in the Davis Mountains
this afternoon. Instability is much less today since an upper
trough has moved east of the area, but residual low level moisture
and strong surface heating may allow for isolated storms to
develop farther north and east. Unfortunately anyone will be very
lucky to receive rainfall today. Lows tonight remain unseasonably
warm and tomorrow the heat continues with highs in the upper 90s
to 100s.

An upper level ridge remains virtually stationary for at least
the next seven days. The center of the high, and greatest
subsidence, will remain to our north keeping West Texas and
southeastern New Mexico in an easterly flow. Therefore
temperatures increase through the week but the increase will be
gradual. Heat stress will be a concern for anyone outdoors in the
extended period, especially early next week when highs start
reaching 105 and beyond. Heat Advisories will probably be needed
when that time approaches. The high pressure aloft will prevent
any rain chances after today.
