During the evening of June 13, 2024, a series of tornadoes were produced by a cluster of thunderstorms across central Illinois. One of the tornadoes started in McLean county and crossed into Ford County. This Public Information Statement will provide details of the McLean to Ford county tornado. Information on the other tornadoes produced by the storm will be provided by a Public Information Statement from the NWS Lincoln office in the near future. The NWS Chicago staff thank the damage surveyors from NWS Lincoln and emergency management officials from Ford county for their time and help in surveying the tornado. .McLean to Ford County Tornado... Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 110 mph Path Length /statute/: 7.6 miles Path Width /maximum/: 1300 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/13/2024 Start Time: 8:46 PM CDT Start Location: 2 miles southeast of Anchor Start Lat/Lon: 40.4784 / -88.4058 End Date: 06/13/2024 End Time: 8:52 PM CDT End Location: 1.7 miles northwest of Gibson City End Lat/Lon: 40.5395 / -88.5256 An EF-1 tornado started 2 miles south of Anchor in McLean county, crossed into Ford county, and lifted approximately 1.7 miles northwest of Gibson City. Damage along the path of the tornado was characterized by downed trees and tree limbs, broken and snapped power poles, structural damage to farm buildings, and damage to at least one home. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ NWS Chicago / NWS Lincoln
