Hydrologic Statement
National Weather Service Elko NV
308 PM PDT Mon May 13 2024

...Warm temperatures this week will lead to increased runoff and
higher flows in area creeks and rivers...

High elevation snow pack continues to accelerate this week as
temperatures remain in the 70s and 80s during the day with overnight
lows in the 40s and possibly 50s. Low temperatures at higher
elevations where snowpack remains may not fall below freezing for
the next several nights. With the increased runoff, area rivers and
creeks will see enhanced flows. Some of these include Salmon Falls
Creek near San Jacinto, the Humboldt River at Comus and Battle
Mountain, South Fork Humboldt River at South Fork Dam and Dixie
Creek, the Owyhee River at Wildhorse and Mountain City, Bruneau
River at Rowland, Marys River at Charleston, Lamoille Creek, Marys
River at Deeth, and Jarbidge River at Jarbidge. When river gauge
water levels reach action stage or higher, additional hydrologic
products will be issued at that time.

Outdoor enthusiasts should use caution as the water is very cold
and a person could be swept away by the fast flowing water.
