079 FZUS74 KLIX 011824 MWSLIX Marine Weather Statement National Weather Service New Orleans LA 124 PM CDT Mon Jul 1 2024 GMZ572-011930- 124 PM CDT Mon Jul 1 2024 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER THE WATERS... The areas affected include... Coastal waters from Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon Louisiana from 20 to 60 NM... At 122 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located 51 nm south of Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, or 53 nm south of Southwest Pass Of the Mississippi River, moving southwest at 10 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots and locally higher waves. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately, if possible, until this activity passes. Intense lightning is also occurring with this storm.
