.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 900 PM EDT Thu Aug 15 2024

Currently - A loose pressure field spans the Keys area this
evening due to the combination of a ridge along the Atlantic Coast
and Hurricane Ernesto centered northeast of the Bahamas. The
environment is seasonably moist and unstable. This evenings
sounding indicated a precipitable water right around two inches
with no inhibition and a very wet boundary layer. Day time heating
and the weak wind field resulted in mainland outflow boundaries
being the main mode of convection through the afternoon and
evening. Currently, activity is isolated, but with a considerable
concentration over the Middle Keys and adjacent waters.

Short Term Update - Surface winds will remain light and varying
through the overnight period as no significant shift in the
synoptic scale drivers are anticipated. The environment will
remain moist, unstable, and uncapped. This along with current
radar trends justify maintaining at least low chance PoPs for the
overnight period. The weak flow should let temperatures drift down
into the lower 80s while dew points will remain in the mid to
upper 70s.
