The day started out with scattered showers and thunderstorms over
southeast Kansas. The rest of the day was mostly dry across Kansas.
Late afternoon temperatures were below average for mid-August
standards in the 70s and 80s, although high humidity supported heat
indices in the 90s over southern Kansas.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will impact
generally the northern one-half to three-quarters of Kansas tonight.
While widespread severe weather is not expected, the strongest
activity will be capable of strong wind gusts, nickel size hail, and
locally heavy rainfall. Forecast low temperatures are in the 60s to
low 70s.

Morning showers and thunderstorms will impact generally the eastern
one-half to one-third of Kansas Tuesday, with drying conditions for
most areas by the afternoon. Forecast high temperatures range from
the 70s over northeast Kansas, to the upper 90s over far south-
central Kansas.
