...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1995, lightning sparked multiple grassfires in eastern Colorado.
In Yuma County, at least 6000 acres, including ten sections of
pasture, burned in a grassfire estimated to be 4 miles wide and 2.5
miles long.
In Kit Carson County, lightning sparked a grassfire which burned
1600 acres at the Busby Ranch.  A sheriff`s deputy received minor
injuries while responding to the fire when he was blinded by a bolt
of lightning and lost control of his cruiser.
