...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1936, the temperature in Goodland Kansas climbed to 110
degrees, a record for the date. It was the first of three
consecutive days that the temperature would climb to 110
degrees, a feat never reached before or since at that location.

In 1996, a severe thunderstorm in Logan County Kansas produced
golf ball sized hail and strong north winds. It was reported that
nearly every north facing window in Monument was broken, as well
as damage to cars and crops. About 260 panes of glass at the
Monument School were broken.
