Temperatures are mild with lower 60s northwest to the upper 60s in the south. This morning a large complex of thunderstorms will continue moving over south central Iowa with the potential for several inches of rain. Localized flooding may occur early today and a flood watch for locally heavy rain covers about the northwest half of the region. The showers and storms will weaken a bit by mid to late morning, but still linger into the early afternoon. This afternoon will see a renewed increase in stronger thunderstorms over much of the central to southeast portion of the state. A second area of storms may develop over the northwest, which already has seen some locally heavy rainfall overnight. A second flood watch has been issued for the south and southeast where rainfall amounts may again cause some localized flooding. Severe weather is also expected and strong to severe storms are more likely between 2 pm and the mid evening hours over the area. Highs this afternoon will range from the upper 70s north to the upper 80s southeast. Tonight and beyond: The storms will end this evening with a break in the weather for Wednesday. Wednesday will likely be the quietest day with nothing substantial forecast during the daytime hours. Then to round out the week, additional chances for showers and storms make appearances Thursday and Friday, though the risk for any stronger to severe storms remains uncertain at this time. Additional showers and scattered storms will be possible over the weekend as well. Temperatures later in the week are predominantly expected to top out in the 80s with lows generally in the 60s. $$ REV
