Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
629 AM MDT Wed Jul 3 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions are expected this
afternoon for areas mainly along and west of the Laramie Range w/ RHs
in the lower teens and wind gusts 30-40 MPH. Fuel conditions are not
currently favorable for large fire growth in those zones. Marginal
Red Flag conditions could spread into the I-25 corridor for a short
time late this afternoon. A Red Flag Warning could be needed, but
overall confidence remains low as to whether sustained red flag
conditions will develop for 3 or more hours. There is a risk for
strong to severe thunderstorms over northern and eastern districts
this afternoon. Independence Day is expected to feature a seasonably
cool air mass for most areas, with daytime highs in the 70s.
