688 WGUS82 KCHS 012129 FLSCHS Flood Advisory National Weather Service Charleston SC 529 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 SCC015-019-020000- /O.EXT.KCHS.FA.Y.0031.000000T0000Z-240702T0000Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Berkeley SC-Charleston SC- 529 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southeast South Carolina, including the following counties, Berkeley and Charleston. * WHEN...Until 800 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 527 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall will move back into the downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant area over the next hour or so. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches will be possible, with intense rainfall rates. Any ongoing flooding will likely worsen for a time before the rainfall finally clears the area later on this evening. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Daniel Island, Downtown Charleston, James Island, West Ashley, Isle Of Palms and Sullivan`s Island. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
