Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
310 AM EDT Tue Jul 2 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Cooler and somewhat refreshing temperatures and drier air
are expected for one more day today. From Wednesday onward,
the area will begin to transition back to increased heat
and humidity. Isolated showers and thunderstorms could develop
across the southern CSRA and Midlands this afternoon, with the
remainder of the area staying dry. As we transition back to the
middle to end of the week, moisture will increase along with
rain chances across the area each day.

Even though some of the area received some much needed rain
over the past several days, the area remains dry overall due to
a lack of a widespread wetting rain. Because of this, fire weather
concerns remain high and are expected to continue to increase
through the week, especially with the Independence Day celebrations
coming up.

Fog potential for tonight: Patchy fog possible, mainly in the
southern Midlands and CSRA.
