Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
149 PM EDT Thu Jul 4 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Upper ridge remains in place across the Southeastern US on Friday
while at the surface, high pressure moves out to sea as a cold
front approaches from the west. The risk for afternoon and
evening showers and thunderstorms is higher on Friday with rain
most likely across the CSRA and the western Midlands where there
is a low to moderate, or 30 to 40 percent, chance. Outside of any
isolated to scattered convection, it will be a hot and dry day
with afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s to around 100
degrees. Despite the expected rise in moisture across the
forecast area, much of the region remains in drought conditions
resulting in increased fire danger.

Fog potential for tonight: Low stratus possible with some
fog near bodies of water.
