The Tallapoosa River at The Tallapoosa Water Plant. * At 7:15 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 16.9 feet. * Action stage is 15.0 feet. * Flood stage is 25.0 feet. * Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.0 feet just after midnight tonight and then begin a gradual fall starting late Monday. The river point is forecast to fall below action stage Tuesday evening. * Impact...At 15.0 feet...Low areas near the junction with the Coosa River begin to overflow. Extensive flooding of low lying areas begins between US 231 and the river at stages of 15 to 25 feet. The Tallapoosa River at Milstead. * At 7:30 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 15.3 feet. * Action stage is 15.0 feet. * Flood stage is 40.0 feet. * Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.4 feet just after midnight tonight and then fall below action stage Monday evening. * Impact...At 15.0 feet...Overflow of pasture lands occurs. Cattle may need to be moved if higher stages are forecast. Another statement will be issued by Monday morning, or sooner if conditions warrant. Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later statements concerning this event. It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next 48 hours. If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may become necessary to revise these forecasts upward. $$
