Flood Statement
National Weather Service La Crosse WI
1103 AM CDT Tue Jul 2 2024

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Iowa...
Wisconsin...Minnesota...

Mississippi River at Lansing affecting Crawford, Houston, Vernon
  and Allamakee Counties.

Mississippi River at Lake City affecting Pepin, Goodhue and
  Wabasha Counties.

Mississippi River at Guttenberg Dam 10 affecting Clayton and
  Grant Counties.

Mississippi River at La Crosse affecting La Crosse, Houston and
  Vernon Counties.

Mississippi River at McGregor affecting Clayton, Crawford, Grant
  and Allamakee Counties.

Mississippi River at Winona affecting Buffalo, Winona and
  Trempealeau Counties.

Mississippi River at Wabasha affecting Buffalo and Wabasha
  Counties.

.Precipitation estimates from last nights rain show two distinct
axes of heavier precipitation, with light amounts around a half an
inch for most. The first heavy axis of roughly 1.5 to 2 plus inches
of rain fell along a line from Austin, Minnesota through La Crosse
towards the Dells which fell across the Cedar, Root, La Crosse,
Kickapoo, and Wisconsin River basins. The Cedar River routes into
the Mississippi below our area, which will play no role in the
Mississippi crest forecasts through Guttenberg. The Root River
routes into the Mississippi below La Crosse, which will impact
locations from Genoa southward. The Kickapoo and Wisconsin Rivers
flow into the river at McGregor, which brings the most uncertainty
into the forecast. Timing the routing from the Root and Wisconsin
River at the same time has led to an increase in the forecast for
McGregor and Guttenberg. The second heavy axis fell along a line
from Oelwein east northeast through Grant County. This axis of rain
will flow into the Turkey, Grant, and Platte River basins, which
route into the Mississippi below Guttenberg and will only play a
minimal role for the forecast there.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Additional river and weather information is available at
www.weather.gov/lacrosse.

The next statement will be issued late tonight at 1215 AM CDT.
