...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM MDT THIS
EVENING FOR WEST CENTRAL SOCORRO COUNTY...

At 524 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated earlier thunderstorms
produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 2.5
inches of rain have fallen. Although heavy rainfall has ended, the
threat for flash flooding continues.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Magdalena and National Radio Astronomy Observatory.

This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 90 and 134.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.

Please report observed flooding to the National Weather Service at
1.888.386.7637 when you can do so safely.
