...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM MDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL EMERY, SAN JUAN, NORTHEASTERN GARFIELD AND
EASTERN WAYNE COUNTIES...

At 535 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has
fallen in slot canyons in the area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of slot canyons,
         normally dry washes, creeks and streams, urban areas and
         highways.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include slot
canyon areas adjacent to SR 95 and SR 276 and the Dirty Devil River
from Hanksville downstream to the confluence of Lake Powell.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
