...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 PM MDT THIS
AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHWESTERN WAYNE COUNTY...

At 132 PM MDT, Flash Flooding has been observed with water going
over the road along state route 24 in Capitol Reef. Thunderstorms
are producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and
0.75 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of rivers, creeks,
         normally dry washes, and slot canyons.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include the
following slot canyons within Capitol Reef National Park, Sulphur
Creek, Smokestack Canyon, Cohab Canyon, Grand Wash, Wonderland
Canyon, Beaver Bay Canyon, Lower Spring Canyon. Additionally,
locations that will impacted include Torrey, Fruita and Caineville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
