...New LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Tuesday)
Issued at 234 PM CDT Mon Jul 1 2024

A heat advisory had been issued for portions of the Big Country
and Concho Valley Tuesday afternoon. This is mainly for
temperatures reaching highs of 105. Heat indices are expected to
be slightly lower, as dew points fall to 55 to 60 in the
afternoon. Lows tonight will mainly 75 to 80 degrees.

Otherwise, south winds will be gusty at times Tuesday, bringing
slightly elevated fire weather danger, particularly west of a San
Angelo to Sweetwater to Roby line. Again, dry conditions expected
under upper ridging.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday night through next Monday)
Issued at 246 PM CDT Mon Jul 1 2024

Upper level ridging will remain in control over west central Texas
through the 4th of July holiday. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday
will top out in the upper 90s to around 105 degrees. Overnight
lows will only drop into the mid to upper 70s. By Friday and
Saturday, the upper level ridge begins to shift to the east of
the region. Meanwhile, an upper level trough will move down into
the Plains sending a cold front into our area. The combination of
the upper level weakness aloft and the surface boundary will lead
to a chance of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms on
Friday and Saturday. Will maintain the slight chance to chance of
PoPs from the previous forecast and cross our fingers that rain
chances continue to improve as we go through the week. The good
news is that with the weakening of the upper ridge we could see
temperatures only in the lower 90s or the end of the week!
