...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN CHEROKEE...
SOUTHEASTERN CRAWFORD...CENTRAL BARTON AND NORTHWESTERN JASPER
COUNTIES THROUGH 645 PM CDT...

At 614 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Mindenmines, or near Pittsburg, moving southeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Pittsburg, Prairie State Park, Lamar, Frontenac, Jasper, Liberal,
Purcell, Chicopee, Nashville, Mindenmines, Carytown, Asbury, Neck
City, Lamar Heights, Waco, Irwin, Oakton, Beulah, Opolis, and Yale.

This includes Interstate 49 between mile markers 51 and 75.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for
southeastern Kansas...and southwestern Missouri.
