...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Hot daytime temperatures near 105 degrees and limited
  overnight cooling with morning lows in the mid 60s to mid 70s
  through most of this week will result in a prolonged period of
  Major HeatRisk and heat health impacts.

* WHERE...Northern Washoe County, Western Nevada Basin and Range
  including Pyramid Lake, Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area, and
  Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat events, particularly for those working or
  participating in outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave
children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach
lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

* WHAT...Hot daytime temperatures in the 90s to near 100 through
  most of this week will result in a prolonged period of Moderate
  HeatRisk and heat health impacts for those sensitive to heat or
  those without access to effective cooling.

* WHERE...Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties and Surprise
  Valley California. Especially for lower elevation areas such as
  Susanville, Cedarville, and Portola.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  heat events, particularly for those working or participating in
  outdoor activities.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PDT FRIDAY BELOW 6000
FEET...

* WHAT...Hot daytime temperatures of 95-105 with limited overnight
  cooling will yield Moderate to Major HeatRisk for lower elevation
  valleys in the Eastern Sierra.

* WHERE...Mono County below 6000 feet elevation. This includes
  Coleville and Chalfant Valley.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM PDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For areas above 6000 feet in the Eastern
  Sierra, sufficient cooling at night will help mitigate heat
  impacts therefore the Heat Advisory is not valid for those areas.
  This includes Mammoth Lakes and Lee Vining. Daytime highs will
  still reach into the 80s to near 90 so take precautions if
  participating in outdoor activities.
