824 WGUS83 KPAH 161730 FLSPAH Flood Advisory National Weather Service Paducah KY 1230 PM CDT Tue Jul 16 2024 ILC055-077-145-170000- /O.NEW.KPAH.FA.Y.0110.240716T1730Z-240717T0000Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Franklin IL-Jackson IL-Perry IL- 1230 PM CDT Tue Jul 16 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southern Illinois, including the following counties, Franklin, Jackson and Perry. * WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1229 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... West Frankfort, Benton, Du Quoin, Pinckneyville, Christopher, Rend Lake Area, Sesser, Zeigler, Royalton, Elkville, Valier, West City, Ava, Willisville, Thompsonville, North City, Buckner, Cutler, Dowell and Orient. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads.
