Subject: New river forecast services on Beaver Creek at Loretto

On Monday August 5th, 2024, river forecast services will begin
for the river gage on the Beaver Creek at Loretto, Nebraska.
Beginning on this day, river forecasts will be issued when the
Beaver Creek is observed or expected to reach a level of 9.0
feet. Flooding along the Beaver Creek begins when the gage reaches
a level of 9.5 feet.

Located on the west side of the community of Loretto, this gage
is the only river gage on the Beaver Creek. As such it provides
critical water level information for the area, especially the city
of Albion located downstream.

This river gage is operated and maintained by the Nebraska
Department of Natural Resources. Records for this site began in
1979, though the gage also operated for a short time from 1944 to
1953. The flood of record for this gage occurred in 1993 when the
gage reached a level of 13.88 feet on August 29th.
