The areas affected include... Coastal waters from Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon Louisiana from 20 to 60 NM... At 911 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This cluster of thunderstorms is generally located along a line extending from 35 nm south of Southwest Pass Of the Mississippi River to 55 nm south of Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, drifting east at 5 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect widespread gusty winds to around 30 knots, higher waves, and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this activity passes. Intense lightning is occurring with these storms.
