...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Colorado, including
  the following counties in Colorado, San Miguel and Montrose.

* WHEN...Until 530 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. River
  or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 340 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in Bull Canyon. Between 0.5 and 0.8 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - Bull Canyon into the Dolores River is the most likely place
    to experience minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    mainly rural areas of Northwestern San Miguel and
    Southwestern Montrose Counties

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
