The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  South Central Grand County in east central Utah...
  North Central San Juan County in southeastern Utah...

* Until 600 PM MDT.

* At 259 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  strong thunderstorms producing heavy rain across Canyonlands, and
  is approaching the town of Moab, Spanish Valley and Castle Valley.
  Between 0.3 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional
  rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.
  Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Moab, Castle Valley, Spanish Valley, Arches National Park and Dead
  Horse Point State Park.

This includes the following highways...
Utah 128 between mile markers 0 and 19.
Utah 313 between mile markers 0 and 11...and
between mile markers 13 and 22.
U.S. Highway 191 in Utah between mile markers 114 and 137.
Utah 279 between mile markers 0 and 15.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  North Fork Mill Creek, Placer Creek, Mill Creek, Colorado River,
  Horse Creek, Dry Fork, Beaver Creek, Kane Springs Canyon, Pack
  Creek, Salt Wash, Castle Creek, Steans Creek and Hunters Canyon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
