...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR
PORTIONS OF APACHE COUNTY NEAR FORT DEFIANCE AND WINDOW ROCK...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of Apache County near Window Rock and Fort
  Apache.

* WHEN...Until 230 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in creeks and normally dry washes is
  imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1237 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers...
    Red Clay Wash, Piney Hill Creek, Thsohotso Wash, Black Creek,
    Pueblo Colorado Wash, Cienega Creek, Bonito Creek, Wide Ruin
    Wash, Kinlichee Creek, Tse Bonito Wash.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Piney Hill, Fort Defiance, Window Rock, Sawmill, St. Michaels
    and Choyojdolid.
  - This includes State Route 264 between mile markers 454 and
    475.
  - Visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for more information on
    flood safety.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not
attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
