NMDot closed portions of Highway 9 due to water running over roadway and heavy flooding. NM 9 is closed from milepost 68 (Hermanas) to milepost 87 (intersection of Hwy 11 in Columbus). * WHERE...A portion of southwest New Mexico, including the following county, Luna. * WHEN...Until 1230 AM MDT. * IMPACTS...Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1010 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. - NM 9 Milepost 87 to Milepost 68 is the most likely place to experience minor flooding. Additional rainfall of up to 0.5 inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that may experience flooding include...
