A stray rain shower may be seen across portions of central Iowa this morning, but nothing more than an isolate lightning strike may occur. Aside from that, NW winds will be breezy at times, especially across the north, with sustained winds 10 to 20 mph and gusts into the 20s mph. Most probably will not complain about the breezy winds though as they will usher in lower, more comfortable, dew points and humidity conditions. Expect highs to range from the low to mid 70s northwest to the mid 80s southeast as a result of those northwest winds too. Tonight and beyond: A pleasant and sunny Sunday will prevail across the area with low humidity and highs in the 70s. A very nice way to end the weekend. Enjoy it though, as the work week will be unsettled with multiple chances for showers and storms. While the severe threat remains in flux, chances for periods of heavy rain appear increasingly possible. Should those line up over similar areas on multiple days, water issues may be the result. Temperatures will vary a bit too with a cool start Monday in the 70s, a brief warmup Tuesday well into the 80s if not low 90s, then possible gradual cooling rest of the week into the upper 70s and lower 80s by Friday. $$
