418 WGUS82 KCHS 012000 FLSCHS Flood Advisory National Weather Service Charleston SC 400 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 SCC019-012230- /O.EXT.KCHS.FA.Y.0030.000000T0000Z-240701T2230Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Charleston SC- 400 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southeast South Carolina, including the following county, Charleston. * WHEN...Until 630 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 357 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Though rainfall has ended across the upper portion of Charleston County, radar imagery indicates additional thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are poised to move into the area through the early evening hours. Automated rain gauges and radar estimates indicate that 1 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen since the early afternoon hours. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rain will be possible as the next round of thunderstorms moves in. Though minor flooding has likely subsided, additional flooding is expected to occur. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mount Pleasant, McClellanville, Isle Of Palms, Awendaw, Garris Landing, Bull Island, Price Inlet, Lighthouse Island, Cape Romain and Capers Inlet. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
