Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
501 AM EDT Thu Jul 4 2024

.DISCUSSION...Another dry summer day ahead for July 4th with
hot temps pushing near 100F and afternoon RH`s around 35%.
Winds will veer slightly to out of the south-southeast and
strengthen this morning, sustained 6-8 mph with gusts up to
10-14 mph this afternoon. Strong winds off the surface
should prevent fog tonight but increasing moisture could
bring some low stratus in spots. Rain chances begin to
increase Friday as surface moisture continues to build into
the region, followed by a weak front on Saturday which should
bring scattered-widespread showers and storms. Drought
conditions across all of SC and eastern GA.

Fog potential for tonight: Low stratus possible with some
fog near bodies of water.
