Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
317 AM MDT Thu Jul 4 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM MDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTH PARK... FIRE ZONE 214...

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Critical fire weather conditions
are forecast across Park County this afternoon where humidity and
winds are expected to reach critical thresholds for a few hours.
Improved humidity values and lighter winds are forecast elsewhere,
though elevated fire weather conditions are possible across most
of the high country this afternoon. Temperatures will be cool
across the plains with generally light northeasterly winds. Smoke
dispersal should be good to excellent this afternoon.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday through Monday...

Most days during the extended period will have dry weather. Sunday
will be the day with the best chance of rain but coverage of storms
is uncertain.

The higher terrain will have small areas of elevated fire weather
conditions on Friday. The day during the extended with the worst
fire weather conditions will be Saturday. The foothills and mountain
valleys will have minimum relative humidity drop to teens with gusts
up to 25 mph. Therefore, good coverage of elevated fire weather
conditions is expected. Sunday will be cooler and wetter reducing
fire weather concerns. While minimum relative humidity values will
drop to the teens by the middle to end of next week, winds will be
light enough to limit fire weather conditions.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
