Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
304 AM MDT Tue Jul 2 2024

.SHORT TERM...Today through Thursday night...Dry northwest flow
will dominate the pattern through Thursday. This will keep
temperatures a couple degrees below normal today and Wednesday,
warming to near normal Thursday as an upper level ridge along
the West Coast starts to expand inland. Skies will remain mostly
sunny with no chance of precipitation. Afternoon winds will be
breezy, strongest on Wednesday as a shortwave trough passes to
our north and enhances the surface pressure gradient. Wind gusts
Wednesday afternoon across the Magic Valley and Camas Prairie
are expected to reach 30-40 mph with gusts of 20-30 mph
elsewhere.

.LONG TERM...Friday through Tuesday...Model guidance remains in good
agreement in depicting a strong upper ridge along the west coast on
Friday that gradually builds eastward and reaches our area by early
next week. This will lead to dry and very hot conditions.
Temperatures will likely (greater than a 60 percent chance) exceed
100 degrees in the lower valleys Saturday through Tuesday.
