...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN POTTER...EAST
CENTRAL DEWEY AND SOUTH CENTRAL WALWORTH COUNTIES THROUGH 445 PM
CDT/345 PM MDT/...

At 413 PM CDT/313 PM MDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong
thunderstorm near Swiftbird Day School, or 26 miles west of
Gettysburg, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Swiftbird, Akaska, Swan Creek Rec Area, Swiftbird Day School,
Whitlocks Bay Rec Area, Tiospaye Topa School, and Lake Oahe.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in Aberdeen.

If on or near the Missouri River, get out of the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT/800 PM
MDT/ for north central South Dakota.
