The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Cerro Pelado burn scar in...
  East Central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* Until 1245 AM MDT.

* At 1039 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated earlier thunderstorms
  produced heavy rain over the Cerro Pelado Burn Scar. Between 0.75
  and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts
  up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. The threat for
  flash flooding remains.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Vallecitos Creek,
West Fork Borrego Canyon, Paliza Canyon, Canada Camada, Bland Canyon
and Rio Chiquito. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud,
vegetation and other loose materials.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding in and around the Cerro
           Pelado Burn Scar.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around
           the Cerro Pelado Burn Scar.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Jemez Pueblo and Ponderosa.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches
in the Cerro Pelado Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be
anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in
places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety.

Runoff from rainfall will cause elevated water levels within
vulnerable drainages in and downstream of the Cerro Pelado wildfire
fire burn area.
