An Arctic outbreak of cold air will expand south and east from the northern Plains through the Midwest and persist into next week. Dangerously cold wind chills are expected in the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Synopsis: Tight pressure gradients persist between high pressure over the
northern Bering Sea and lows in the North Pacific. Cold Arctic air
moves out of Southwest Alaska and across the eastern Bering Sea
beginning Saturday afternoon. This will lead to strengthening
northeasterly winds and increasing snow showers and heavy freezing
