Active Weather for the Rockies; Southern Plains Storm Taking Shape

Snow showers, squalls and strong winds will affect portions of the Cascades and Rockies through Wednesday. Meanwhile, a developing storm across the Southern Plains will track toward the Great Lakes into Thursday as severe thunderstorms, flash flooding and strong winds are forecast for the Mid-Lower Mississippi Valley. Heavy snow is possible for the Upper Midwest and wintry mix for the Northeast.

Overnight: Southwest winds to 30 knots. Lake effect snow.

Sunday: Southwest winds 15 to 25 knots becoming west. Snow showers likely early, then a chance of snow showers late in the morning. A chance of snow showers late.

Sunday Night: West winds 15 to 20 knots diminishing to 10 to 15 knots. Mostly cloudy.

Monday: Southwest winds 5 to 15 knots. Lake effect snow showers likely in the afternoon.

Monday Night: Southwest winds 10 knots or less becoming west. Lake effect snow showers.

Tuesday: West winds 10 knots or less becoming south. A chance of snow showers.

Wednesday: South winds 5 to 15 knots. A chance of snow showers during the day.

Thursday: South winds 5 to 10 knots becoming southwest. Cloudy. the saint lawrence seaway has closed for the 2022 navigation season, therefore the forecast for the saint lawrence river has been discontinued. The forecast will resume in the spring when the river opens for navigation.
