Stormy Weather Along the East Coast; Mountain Snow and Valley Rain in the West

Showers and thunderstorms will linger along the east coast through this evening. Locally heavy rain is possible and may lead to isolated instances of flooding, especially in the Mid-Atlantic through the New England region. A front moving across the west will keep mountain snow and low elevation rain chances in the forecast through Friday. Heavy rain is expected in central/southern California.

Friday: Wind west 10 knots. Wind waves around 2 feet or less. Swell west 3 to 4 feet at 6 seconds.

Friday Night: Wind south 10 knots with gusts to 15 knots... Becoming 15 to 20 knots with gusts to 25 knots after midnight. Wind waves around 2 feet or less...becoming 4 feet after midnight. Swell west 2 to 5 feet at 13 seconds. Swell south 4 feet after midnight. A slight chance of rain in the evening, then a chance of rain after midnight.

Saturday: Wind southwest 10 to 20 knots with gusts to 25 knots...becoming 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Wind waves 3 to 4 feet in the morning...becoming 2 feet or less. Mixed swell west 3 to 6 feet at 13 seconds and southwest 4 to 6 feet at 6 seconds. Rain, mainly in the morning.
