Stormy Weather Along the East Coast; Mountain Snow and Valley Rain in the West

Showers and thunderstorms will linger along the east coast through this evening. Locally heavy rain is possible and may lead to isolated instances of flooding, especially in the Mid-Atlantic through the New England region. A front moving across the west will keep mountain snow and low elevation rain chances in the forecast through Friday. Heavy rain is expected in central/southern California.

Rest Of Tonight: Northwest wind 5 knots. Mostly clear. Waves 1 foot or less.

Friday: Northwest wind 5 knots becoming east 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots in the late morning and afternoon. Sunny in the morning then becoming partly sunny. Waves 1 to 2 feet.

Friday Night: Northeast wind 15 to 20 knots. Gusts up to 20 knots increasing to 25 knots after midnight. Snow likely in the evening, then snow after midnight. Waves 1 to 3 feet building to 3 to 5 feet in the late evening and overnight. A small craft advisory may be needed.

Saturday: Northeast wind 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots becoming northwest 5 to 10 knots late in the afternoon. Chance of snow through the day. Waves 3 to 5 feet subsiding to 1 to 3 feet late in the afternoon. Waves occasionally to 7 feet. A small craft advisory may be needed. note...wave height forecasts are for ice free areas.
