Stormy Weather Along the East Coast; Mountain Snow and Valley Rain in the West

Showers and thunderstorms will linger along the east coast through this evening. Locally heavy rain is possible and may lead to isolated instances of flooding, especially in the Mid-Atlantic through the New England region. A front moving across the west will keep mountain snow and low elevation rain chances in the forecast through Friday. Heavy rain is expected in central/southern California.

Friday: Northwest wind 5 to 10 knots becoming south in the afternoon. Sunny. Waves 1 foot or less.

Friday Night: East wind 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Chance of snow in the evening, then snow likely after midnight. Waves 1 to 2 feet building to 3 to 5 feet after midnight. A small craft advisory may be needed.

Saturday: East wind 10 to 15 knots becoming southeast 5 to 10 knots late in the afternoon. Gusts up to 20 knots. Snow likely in the morning, then slight chance of snow in the afternoon. Waves 3 to 5 feet subsiding to 1 to 3 feet late in the afternoon. A small craft advisory may be needed. note...wave height forecasts are for ice free areas.
