Increased Risks for Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the South-central U.S. Today

An Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms is forecast today in the lower Missouri River Valley. Very large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a couple strong tornadoes are possible. A Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for excessive rainfall is forecast today from northeast Texas into central Missouri. Flash, urban, and river flooding may become possible.

Tonight: Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots increasing to 20 to 25 knots. Mostly clear with a chance of showers in the evening, then mostly cloudy with showers likely after midnight. Waves 1 to 3 feet building to 4 to 6 feet in the late evening and overnight. Waves occasionally around 8 feet.

Saturday: South winds 20 to 25 knots diminishing to 15 to 20 knots in the late morning and afternoon. Mostly cloudy. Light showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Waves 4 to 6 feet. Waves occasionally around 7 feet.
