Powerhouse Storm Set for West; Severe Weather Threat the Next Several Days

The most significant of the recent Pacific storms to reach the West Coast will arrive this weekend, mainly Sunday into Monday. A number of hazards are expected, especially the heavy rain threat on Sunday across northern and central California that may result in flooding and debris flows near burn scars. These Pacific storms will produce severe weather the next several days east of the Rockies.

Sunday Night: East winds around 5 knots. Bay and inland waters smooth. A chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms.

Monday: Southeast winds around 5 knots then becoming southwest around 10 knots in the late morning and early afternoon, then becoming west late in the afternoon. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms.

Monday Night: West winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

Tuesday: West winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

Tuesday Night: Northwest winds around 10 knots diminishing to around 5 knots toward morning. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

Wednesday: Northwest winds around 5 knots then becoming southwest around 10 knots in the late morning and afternoon. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Southwest winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of thunderstorms after midnight.

Thursday: Southwest winds around 15 knots. Bay and inland waters a moderate chop. Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms.
